Like so many other businesses across the country, our barbershop is currently short-staffed. Unfortunately, this means that we are experiencing longer-than-usual wait times. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause – especially as this is often forces us to stop taking customers much earlier than our posted closing times. With that said, please know that we will continue to do our best to serve as many customers as possible each day. We’re often still cutting hair past our intended closing times.
Additionally, once our signs read “Full for the Day,” please note that we will still serve our customers who have already pulled a ticket when their corresponding numbers are called. We hope to see you all soon!
OUR STORY
The original Carlo’s Barbership has been a landmark in Garfield Heights, Ohio since 1969. It all began with founder, Carlo Sarti Sr., an Italian immigrant who had a dream to one day have his own barbershop. In 1969, Carlo Sr. opened the doors to the original Carlo’s Barbershop on Warner Road in Cleveland, Ohio. Carlo Sr.’s hard work, quality haircuts, and inviting, friendly atmosphere were a definite recipe for success. After spending a few years in the shopping plaza on Warner Road, Carlo Sr. came across a great opportunity. Jaworski’s Meat Market and Candy Shop, located just down the street from the shop, was put up for sale. Carlo Sr. seized the opportunity to buy the building. Thus, the shop was moved to Turney Road in Garfield Heights. Having used all of his savings to buy the shop, he did not account for the expenses needed to remodel and convert it into a barbershop. With the help of family, friends, and customers in the construction trades, the once meat market and candy shop was converted to Carlo’s Barbershop. Carlo Sr.’s love for the business inspired his son, Carlo Jr., to also enter the trade, and the family does not end there. Carlo Jr. later convinced his brother-in-law Roberto Gangale, to join the cutting crew.
After almost a decade working under Carlo Sr. at the original Carlo’s Barbershop, Carlo Jr. and Roberto decided it was time for Carlo’s Barbershop to also have a presence on the south side of Cleveland. Many of the original Carlo’s Barbershop customers had moved to the south side, the area that both Carlo Jr. and Roberto grew up in. Carlo Jr. and Roberto began to search for the perfect location for Carlo’s Barbershop II. Amidst their search, they were very fortunate to find an available space that was once one of the most popular barbershops in Broadview Heights, Ohio. The space at 8138 Broadview Road was once Pat’s Barbershop, owned and run by the late Pat Dimassa, After purchasing the business, Carlo Jr. and Roberto had much work ahead of them. Since the shop had been closed for several years, it took hard work and extreme dedication to remodel the shop. On October 4th, 2005, the doors of Carlo’s Barbershop II were opened. Carlo Jr., Roberto, and newly recruited family friend Bill Wise were eager and excited to open a new shop in an area that was in great need of one. Carlo Jr. and Roberto were both ready and willing to split their time between working at the original Carlo’s Barbershop and Carlo’s Barbershop II. Carlo’s Barbershop II has received an overwhelming welcome from the community for which they are very appreciative, and are always excited to meet new customers every day.
The expansion continued when Carlo’s Barbershop added a third location at 6574 Brecksville Road in Independence. This shop opened in 2012 and is operated by Nick Barile and Carlo Jr.
Daily conversation at every Carlo’s Barbershop often includes local happenings, world events, sports, and of course, the latest jokes. Men and children of all ages love visiting this traditional shop. Of course, mothers are always welcome to bring in their children, too.

The man who started it all 50 years ago, my father was born in Italy and his family moved to the USA in 1955. They struggled, so my father developed his work ethic at an early age. He is 72 years old now and in great shape! He is still the hardest worker I know. He is a machine! All of us at Carlo’s have been privileged to work and learn from him. He is a true inspiration! He has taught us all some great life lessons. He can still give one of the best tapered square back’s in the country. He is truly a master barber! Along with barbering, he enjoys his grandchildren, soccer, and garage sales! He is the original American picker!
CARLO, JR
“LOS”
He is a natural born barber and has been cutting now for over 20 years! He has carried on the legacy and dedicated his career to make an environment where men and their families feel comfortable. His positive, upbeat personality and eye for detail has gained him quite the reputation in the Cleveland area. If there was a Guinness record for nicest man alive or walking encyclopedia, this professional barber would own it. You will leave Carlo‘s chair satisfied and with an interesting story to share with the world, every time.
ROBERTO
“ROBEZ”
“Robez” is one of the most talented barbers alive. Co-owner of Carlo’s in Broadview, Roberto has been blessing the Northeast Ohio region with his skills for decades!
An industry veteran with over 20 years of experience, Roberto has held the Guinness World Record for the fastest haircut since 2011.
And while he may not be known for making much “small talk” in the barber shop, you can always rest assured that Roberto delivers premium level haircuts at a rate that is unmatched anywhere on the planet!
BILL
“SWEET WILLY”
Bill has been entertaining our shop since he graduated from barber college in 2004. He is a “rockstar”! There is not a haircut he cannot do. He is always upbeat and has the best stories! He’s the guy who we always say….”that can only happen to Bill!” Bill is a true artist in every sense. He is not known for his punctuality, but once at work, he is one of the hardest workers. He has built a great client base! His tattoos tell a great story! Bill is always on some adventure! It’s always a party when you’re with Bill! He enjoys everything he does to the extreme! He lives in the moment and is unbelievable at karaoke!
NICK
“HAIR JORDAN”
A veteran to the barber business for over 10 years. Co-owner of Carlo’s Barbershop in Independence. This guy can do it all. The most athletic barber in the shop! His hair cutting game is no different! He has perfected every cut making them look easy. He has great customer service and knows how to tell a story. Anything he puts his hands on turns to perfection. He is a true hair professional. Nick is proud to be a St. Edward graduate and enjoys playing and watching all sports, especially basketball! He is often told he resembles Lebron James! Nick would say his basketball game definitely does! However, he is still practicing to beat Carlo Jr. in table tennis!
COURTNEY
“THE BLONDE ASSASSIN”
Courtney is one of our newest members to the cutting crew. We feel very fortunate that she knocked on our door for a job! She has learned our cutting style faster than anyone we have worked with! This young lady cuts like a pro already. She is an extremely hard worker and takes tremendous pride in every haircut. She is always on time and someone you can count on to work and do whatever it takes. Always pleasant and a great addition to our shop! She has built a tremendous clientele in a short time which speaks volumes. She enjoys the outdoors, the beach, and the gun range!
MIKE
“MID-RANGE”
The newest family member to the cutting crew! He really showed his commitment when he left Chicago and moved to Cleveland to join his brothers-in-law, Roberto and Carlo, Jr. He was eager to learn the trade and business. Mike has listened, observed , and learned very rapidly! He is extremely thorough and takes tremendous pride in every cut….to give people exactly what they ask for. He also rivals Carlo Sr for best dressed barber! Great at giving hair consultations and is very hair product savvy. He has tried just about every hair pomade, wax, and gel out there! Our Irish barber enjoys auto racing, cigars, and Guinness in his free time. He doesn’t enjoy rainy days!!!
